On 14th November 2022, SparkSafe attended its first Electrical Safety in the Home meeting hosted by Electrical Safety Roundtable [ESR]. The ESR is a leading industry forum, bringing together experts in their field with the common goal of improving electrical safety in the Home and Workplace.
It was an honour to also be invited to attend the House of Commons to celebrate 10 years of the Electrical Safety Roundtable. Stakeholders from across the industry spoke about the progress and challenges faced in relation to enhancing electrical safety standards across the UK. This included an overview of The Domestic Premises (Electrical Safety Certificate) Bill, from the Bill’s sponsor Lord Foster of Bath and an incredibly moving and powerful speech from influential electrical safety campaigner Louise Adamson. An excellent event with a wide range of stakeholders coming together and fighting for real change and improvements for the greater good in the electrical industry.
The day provided an opportunity to reflect on the contribution to enhancing standards of electrical safety made by the Roundtable over the past 10 years and also to highlight recent initiatives, such as the newly launched, Electrical Safety Roundtable Above and Beyond Awards, created to showcase best practice to inspire change.
