What’s gone wrong? It’s clearly bad news for all concerned.

Will the prospective generation of new entrants to the industry conclude that this is a low paid trade and opt for another career choice?
Are clients likely to be well serviced by a grossly underpaid skilled worker?
Has the client deliberately or unwittingly brought about this impoverishment?
How is the prospective worker going to pay the bills?
